My internship at RLAX in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Myname is Jana and I am studying International Business at the ESB Business School. During my fourth semester, I decided to do my internship with RLAX from July, 2023 to December, 2023 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
My time at RLAX, a startup based in Chiang Mai, Thailand, was an incredible learning experience. But what does RLAX do? Founded in 2020, RLAX operates as a mobile massage service, providing in-home massages to its customers. Through online booking platforms such as web applications and mobile applications, customers can schedule massage appointments in the comfort of their own homes. Over the past few years, RLAX has expanded its services to include in-office massages for corporate clients and also formed partnerships with hotels. During my internship, I was part of the small Online Marketing and Sales team at RLAX.
From day one, I handled a wide range of responsibilities in Online Marketing and Sales. This included developing and analyzing new marketing strategies with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Advertisement (SEA), managing social media channels, and creating new content. This allowed me to gain valuable insights into the Asian market and its current trends. I also learned about the sales process, working with inbound and outbound customers from initial contact to closing deals. Throughout my internship, I got comfortable using essential marketing and sales tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, HubSpot, and more.
But there’s more to an internship than just developing hard skills. Working in a startup environment taught me to think out of the box and to solve problems independently. RLAX is a great environment to implement your own ideas, get creative and try new things. Additionally, working with a diverse and international team exposed me to important lessons in intercultural communication and different cultural aspects.
However, RLAX is not only about work; it offers a lot of opportunities and benefits that made my time unforgettable. There are weekly activities like running sessions, tennis, or badminton, and monthly team events and parties that allowed me to connect with my coworkers. The office itself is amazing, featuring a swimming pool and a café for relaxing breaks.
Beyond office life, living in Chiang Mai provides an incredible opportunity to get to know a different culture. From experiencing new food to visiting local bars and discovering the beautiful surroundings. There are a lot of activities to experience in your free time.
My internship was an amazing journey that provided hands-on experience in a fast-paced startup. RLAX provides an agile working environment which allows you to be creative and fully utilize your potential to explore exciting opportunities. I highly recommend this internship to anyone who is seeking an international perspective on online marketing and sales while having the freedom to be creative!
